As an active athlete, I am a big fan of competitive events in all sectors and disciplines. Sport not only benefits our bodies, but also brings us closer together and teaches humility. It istherefore a great honour for me to be the patron of the 12th European Summer Games forDisabled Youth, which focuses on the movement of disabled athletes who, despite adversity, have not given up and continue to strive to improve and push the limits of their abilities and performance. This year, the Karlovy Vary Region will be represented by a swimming team.
My fingers are crossed for all of them. I wish them to be able to fulfil their expectations, to enjoy their stay at these Games and to make new friendships, which may also become furthermotivation. Good luck.
