Radek Vondráček, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic

09.05.2021 11:21

After the coronavirus crisis, our republic has finally started to breathe freely, lives are returning to normal, our diaries are being filled not only with duties but also with leisure activities, traditional projects have a green light once again. The great news is that this year - despite various organizational complications - the Emil Open European Youth Games for the Disabled will take place, and even in the standard days. Neither the organizers nor the athletes from all over Europe gave up. You have my sincere admiration and I keep my fingers crossed for everyone! Not only as the patron of the event, but also as the father of two teenage children who I try to raise to enjoy sports, and as a lover of sporting disciplines of all kinds and the amazing atmosphere around races and racing in general.
I like that, rather than breaking records, the Brno Emil Open is much more about internal motivation to exceed one´s own limits, about sheer enjoyment of movement, meeting people of different nationalities and sharing experiences, regardless of health disability. The jubilee tenth year of the Emil Open has, in addition to sports, another important dimension - social. After a long time of forced isolation and restricted sports activities it is a pleasant change…

Go for it, dear athletes!
