Dear friends,
European Youth Games for the Disabled are returning to the south of Moravia and its capital Brno regularly. I believe that all participants of the Games will enjoy the stay in our region. Disabled athletes and their will and enthusiasm are a great inspiration for us, therefore I am looking forward to the atmosphere this event will create in Brno.
In recent years, sport activities of the disabled people have got more and more attention. The reason is obvious – their performance is equal to the performance of the top representatives. And regarding the obstacles that many of them had to overcome before they reached sport mets, their achievements should be appreciated twice. I am therefore pleased that the South Moravian Region with the city of Brno can host this prestigious athletic meeting of the disabled sportsmen every year.
The beautiful surroundings of the sports venues where the individual competitions will take place are the ideal place where we can return to the real roots of Olympism and recall the sometimes neglected idea of the irrelevance of victory itself. I would like to thank the devoted organizers for this opportunity, and I wish only the best performances to all sportsmen.
The performances of these athletes are a great inspiration and should be an example for young people who have not yet found their way to sport. And not only for this reason, support for similar events is a matter of course for the South Moravian Region, not only this year but also in the future.
